Why We Don’t Charge a Subscription (And Never Will)

A bed doesn’t need a monthly fee. That was our starting point, and it’s still the rule: the Qimora Sleep Core has no subscription, on any version, and it never will.

So how do we manage without one, and what do you pay for instead?

What a subscription pays for

Most smart sleep systems run on a server. The app talks to the cloud, the cloud runs the features, and someone pays for that every month. Eight Sleep’s Pod 6 needs its Autopilot membership for the smart features, at €299 or £299 a year (eightsleep.com, 2 October 2026).

That’s a reasonable model for a product built around an app and sleep data. It just isn’t the only way to keep a bed at the right temperature.

Why the Sleep Core doesn’t need one

The Sleep Core never connects to the internet. The controls are on the Unit beside your bed: you choose a temperature for each side, or start a Sleep Map that cools the bed as you fall asleep and warms it slowly towards morning. All of it runs on the Unit itself.

No server means no running costs to pass on. And because there’s no account and no connection, there’s no data about your nights to store, protect or sell.

What you pay for, once

You pay for the hardware, which is where a good night actually comes from:

  • The Unit, with the pump, the heating and cooling, the touch controls and a display that fades to dark.
  • The Pad: water channels in a soft microfibre cover, a waterproof liner, and elastic straps for mattresses 15 to 40 cm deep.
  • The hose that joins them.

Around that, the things that make buying calm: a 30-night trial in your own bed, a 2-year warranty on all parts, and delivery from our European warehouse, duties paid to the UK and Switzerland.

What that means over three years

Europe United Kingdom
Eight Sleep Pod 6 with Autopilot €4,096 £3,396
Qimora Sleep Core, dual zone (Super King) €1,349 £1,299

Eight Sleep at its default price on eightsleep.com on 2 October 2026 (€3,199 or £2,499) plus three years of Autopilot. Qimora at its dual-zone Super King price on 5 October 2026. Both are dual zone.

What we’ll never do

  • Charge a monthly or yearly fee, on any version.
  • Lock a feature behind a paywall after you’ve bought it.
  • Make an app or an account a condition of using your Sleep Core.

Questions people ask

Does the Qimora Sleep Core have a subscription?

No. You buy it once and own it outright. Every feature works from the first night.

Will you add a subscription later?

No. There’s no subscription on any version, and there won’t be.

Do I need an app or WiFi?

No. Everything is set on the Unit beside the bed, and it never needs the internet.

What happens if your servers go down?

Nothing, because there aren’t any. Nothing about the Sleep Core depends on a server, now or years from now.
